The 1966 novel
'A gólyakalifa' (stork caliph) by Mihály Babits, translated to English under the title of
'The Nightmare'. The protagonist, Elemer, falls asleep and wakes up in another life every night. Throughout the years he becomes unsure which life is real, and which one is a dream.
