Momo by Michael Ende

Published in 1973 by the German writer Michael Ende's (The Never-ending Story, Emil and the Detectives) fantasy has become million's favourite since. The adventure of the young girl, Momo is memorable for any age group, as the main message is how precious our time is. The book won the German Young Literature Prize in 1974.

Story
Living alone in the amphitheatre outside the city, Momo has the amazing ability to listen, which makes everyone like and respect her. The idyllic life is spoiled by the appearance of the Grey Men, who trick people into thinking they save time for them, but in fact they steal the precious time flowers, instead of keeping them in the bank. Only Momo remains untouched by them, therefore she has to save the world with the help of Professor Hora, and Cassiopeia, the future-teller tortoise.

Why love it?
A good reminder for all of us that no money can beat the value of the time we spend with our loved ones.
